English

English is the working language of much of Dubai business, but it is not the language of every government window. Officers at ICP, Tasheel, Dubai Courts and many SEHA clinics may take the file in Arabic first. An English interpreter is for the person who needs every question repeated in plain English — and for the official who needs your answer rendered accurately.

We send English linguists with Arabic or another community language to hospitals, schools, banks and closings. Relocating families use English as the bridge language when one spouse does not share the other’s mother tongue.

We can brief the linguist for British, American or Indian English if that matches the client. For medical and legal work we keep terminology consistent rather than conversational.

If your appointment letter is in Arabic, photograph it and add it to the booking notes. The interpreter prepares the vocabulary the night before.
